PCC Lord Willy Bach responds to the policing settlement

Following the Policing Minister Nick Hurd’s announcement today regarding the proposed Police Grant for 2018/19 Police and Crime Commissioner for Leicestershire, Lord Willy Bach, said:

“I welcome the fact that the Government has recognised that police forces, including Leicestershire need additional funding for neighbourhood policing, for counter-terrorism activity and for new technology to enhance efficiency.

“But, in order to receive this vital funding, local people will have to be asked to pay more towards policing.

“I have already spoken to the Chief Constable about the settlement and we now need to consider the options available to us as we prepare the budget for policing Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland in 2018/19.  There will be some difficult decisions ahead.”
