David Peet, one of the most experienced faces in policing governance, is to join Rupert Matthews, Police and Crime Commissioner for Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, in January 2022.
The new Chief Executive of the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) lives in Leicestershire and brings a raft of knowledge and understanding to the post, having been Chief Executive for Derbyshire OPCC since 2013. Prior to that he worked for Northamptonshire OPCC and Police Authority in senior management roles.
David Peet said: “I am both delighted and excited to be able to bring my experience to lead Rupert Matthew’s Office to deliver positive outcomes for the community in which I live.”
Rupert Matthews added: “David will bring strong leadership and a wealth of experience to my Office and I’m very pleased to welcome him to my team. I have high expectations for the next few years and I need the best people around me in order to deliver on my pledges to the residents of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
“My Office, which has been designed to deliver my Police and Crime Plan and enable me to hold the Chief Constable to account effectively, is moving from strength to strength and I’m looking forward to David boosting that team in the new year.
Chief Executive Officers must be approved by the Police and Crime Panel and a Confirmation Hearing took place last week when members were unanimous in their support of the appointment.
Chair of the Police and Crime Panel, Cllr Deborah Taylor, said: “The Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Police and Crime Panel held a Confirmation Hearing to consider the proposed appointment of David Peet. Mr Peet was thoroughly questioned by the Panel and members unanimously voted to approve the appointment.
“On behalf of the Panel I would like to welcome him to the role and we look forward to working with him in the future.”
