VRN Community Fund 2020-2021

The PCC’s Violence Reduction Network believes violence is preventable and everyone has a role to play in our mission to reduce violence and its harmful consequences. Communities, and in particular young people, play a central role in our collective understanding of violence, its causes and how we prevent and reduce its occurrence.

The VRN is making available a Community Fund of £65,000 to support grassroots community groups across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland to re-engage and support vulnerable young people as part of the COVID19 recovery effort with a view to prevent a variety of negative outcomes including preventing public place violence.

This funding opportunity is open from 28th July 2020, and organisations have up until 25th August 2020 (11:59pm) to submit applications. Grants will be allocated up to £5,000, and all projects must be delivered by 31st March 2021.

The fund is open to applications from community based groups from areas where there are higher risks and/ or incidents of youth violence. We are particularly interested in applications which cover Charnwood and City neighbourhoods, but not exclusively.

Additional expectations:

  • Projects that are awarded funding will be required to support the VRN with evaluation activity.
  • Successful groups will be expected to take part in promotional photographs. However, we will be sensitive to the willingness of participants to take part in photographs.
  • A member of the VRN team will visit successful projects whilst in action, where appropriate to do so.
